Weekend Update with Mallika

(imagine the voice of the guy who says that on SNL) (side note, why isn't Seth Myers in movies?)

Anyway, this weekend turned out to be one of the busier weekends of the past month. But it was all good and fun!
Jenn came over on Friday night, to talk about wedding stuff and to see the condo for the first time. She gave us a gorgeous purple decanter! so nice! (2nd side note, i really should blog from home, cause I'd love to include pictures of all of this) We both are worried about the how are weddings will turn out in terms of a cohesive look. I'm struggling between the rustic country style that would be perfect with the barn; and the vibrant colors of a more Indian inspired wedding, with statues and hanging saris. Love them both. But they don't work together. and I'm truly torn. On the one hand, I look at pictures of weddings and I love the clean simple looks; white table cloths, clear or light blue glass jars with wild flowers, candles, lots of greenery, wooden signs with white paint, hanging Ball jars with candles in them, river rocks lining the aisle, etc. One the other side, I love purple and blues, with colorful flowers and mini glass containers in different shades of blue, purple and orange votive holders, and small statues of the Hindu gods that I grew up with, purple sari's as table runners, sea glass and other rocks about the tables, hanging Moroccan lanterns. I'm thinking that there must be a way to do some of both? But i don't know how...... any suggestions?

On Saturday was Julianne's bridal shower. it was sweet and fun and silly. It was great to meet the other bridesmaids (her sister and other friend) And I was awfully proud of my version of the Newlyweds Game: I videoed Denny (her fiance) answering some questions, edited them into individual clips and at the party, she gave her answer and then we watched Denny's. If they matched, she got it correct! She did pretty good, 7 out of 10. The questions were pretty hard. And I'm not being braggadocios when I say that I think it was the funnest part of the party.... besides opening presents :)

Then Sunday Steve and I went over our wedding budget again (after getting GREAT prices from the DJ we want) and figured that we will probably be able to afford the florist we are in love with. Holly is an artist at heart, and, no joke here, she was BORN to work with flowers! She's A-mazing! I'm hoping that she will be able to help with my indecisiveness on the wedding "theme"
I also spend about 5 hours of yesterday both online looking for pictures to beef up my wedding binder and designing our invitations! they are looking pretty nice!( again, would love to include a picture!) I'm starting to feel like the wedding is coming together. We've got the place, the dress, the photographer, the food, the music and hopefully the flowers! The next thing on our list is to figure out the menue!
